COURSE DESCRIPTION

Learning objective:
The DP operator should acquire insight, experience and confidence in the execution of DP operations, including the ability to handle system errors under different condition.

Content:
Practical knowledge of planning and execution of DP operations
The use of check lists and safe job analysis
Execution of DP operations under normal and extreme circumstances
Ship control in emergency situations.
Detect errors on positioning sensors
Information about incidents reported through IMCA.
Define the different DP classes

Duration:
4 days, 28 hrs, of which19 hrs at DP simulator

Target group:
Navigators in the offshore segment.

Prequalification:
DP Induction course and 30 days DP see time approved by captain/ship owner

Number of participants:
Maximum 8

Examination:
Participation and test

Teaching equipment
DP simulator and classroom with smartboard 


QUALIFICATIONS INSTRUCTORS AND EXAMINERS

Qualifications of instructors and examiners should be in accordance with Simsea procedure Q-3-3 reflecting STCW A-1/6 and Nautical Institute’s requirements.

DOCUMENT OF EVIDENCE
Document of evidence will certify that the candidate has passed DP induction according to IMCA M117 and Nautical Institute at Simsea from (date) to (date). Document of evidence is signed by Director and Training Manager.
